Sommer holiday in Niederthai

There are many good reasons to spend a summer holiday in the mountains: re-energizing, exercising in the fresh air, enjoying the fabulous vistas and the peace and quiet. Niederthai in the Ötztal in Tyrol will provide you with this intense “mountain experience”.

Walking holidays
Walking and climbing mountains between 700 m (2,500ft) and the eternal ice, surrounded by many 3.000 m (10,000ft) mountain peaks. Several alpine huts in the Ötztal invite you to this adventure. Guides from the Ötztal Nature Reserve will gladly show you the most beautiful spots of the valley (free for our guests).

Cycling holidays
The diversity of Ötztal 's landscape and terrain will satisfy the needs of every cyclist. Cycle racing, mountain biking, single track riding or enjoying a family bike tour, everything is possible: from touring over asphalt roads in the valley, across forest roads and paths to the steepest trails.

Trips:

Ötzi Dorf, an archaeological park in Umhausen. Here you will find prehistoric buildings where you can experience how prehistoric people lived and worked. New in the summer season of 2015: a Raptor Centre!

The Stuibenfall, the highest waterfall of Tyrol, with a drop of 159 m (521ft) in height. You can view this amazing waterfall from various platforms up the side and from above.

Badesee Umhausen, a constructed swimming lake with a large sunbathing area, a water playground and a beach volleyball court.

The Piburger See is the largest natural lake of the valley and one of the warmest lakes in Tyrol. On the south side of the lake there is a swimming area as well as a sunbathing area. Around the lake there is a footpath that passes through the woods and you will also find a restaurant there, situated directly on the lake.

Timmelsjoch, the Timmelsjoch High Alpine Road, runs from Hochgurgl to the border of South Tyrol, reaching a height of 2.509 m (8,000ft). This pass road connects the Ötztal with the Passeirtal.
